Sturdy broadband 'a British priority'

Brits would rather have reliable rather than quick broadband connections, a new study has revealed.
Sturdy broadband 'a British priority'
If the economic downturn has taught us anything, it is that many of us can get by with what we have. However, is the world of broadband one area where we should be showing a bit more ambition?

New research from ISPreview.co.uk has revealed that broadband customers focus on reliability rather than speed when selecting a new provider. While over a third of us demand more powerful connections, over 40 per cent are happy to ensure they can get online above anything else.

Such findings are likely to be music to the ears of the government as it continues to push forward with its 2Mbps universal broadband plans, but should the internet be one area where we live more dangerously?

The growing use of the web means we are online more than ever, watching videos, streaming music and playing games. Will the universal service really be enough to meet our demands?

Well, it seems that at present there is nothing like making do, but there are still options for those who want a bit more from their provider. Virgin Media's fibre optic broadband service packs a punch in terms of connection speed, while TalkTalk is also planning to offer speeds of up to 24Mbps as standard from January.

Why choose reliability when speed is far more exciting?
