BT encourages business broadband users to boost their fibreTuesday, January 26th 2010 Will BT's fibre optic broadband services prove to be a hit with businesses across the UK? Fresh from launching fibre optic cable broadband services for homeowners, BT has gone and done the same for businesses.
The new BT Business Total Broadband Fibre service is offering companies the chance to enjoy download speeds of up to 40Mbps through four packages priced from £30 a month.
A connection charge of £75 is included on all of the deals, along with an unlimited usage allowance and a BT Business Fibre Hub wireless router. Upload speeds of up to 10Mbps, which are thought to be the fastest available in the UK, are also available on two of the packages.
Perhaps the most important feature however is the guarantee that business traffic will be given priority at times of contention or peak hours, so companies are in theory able to enjoy the best possible service available.
Nigel Stagg, managing director of BT Business, said a quarter of businesses have fast broadband to boost their use of online processes and "bandwidth-hungry technology".
The business broadband market is a highly saturated one, with companies offering a range of deals, so it remains to be seen how popular BT's service will prove. Are you planning to take advantage of the offer? Or do you believe better value is available elsewhere? |
