Do I need a phone line for home broadband?

Posted by Jetblack in BT, Billing, Broadband about 4th May 2012

Hi

Ive just moved house and bt want to charge me to reactivate the phone line before they'll connect me so I can get broadband. I want fast and unlimited broadband (fibre optic?)so mobile broadband is not an option.

Do I really need a phone line just to get broadband? I use my mobile all the time for calls and feel it's just a waste of money to pay for the reconnection and a line I won't use if I don't have to.

Hi Jetblack

Virgin Media is the only provider to offer fixed line broadband without a phone to your home. You'll pay slightly more but not as much as you'd pay for line rental.

To check availability with your postcode, see our Virgin Media Broadband page.

Hope this helps
