Virgin Bundles Explained

Virgin Media offers a wide range of phone, broadband and cable television services. As part of its successful business model and akin to the doctrine of economies of scale, Virgin is able to offer cutting edge technology at extremely competitive prices in part because of its bundling together of various packages. Whilst this is good news for consumers, there is the added benefit that any customer who selects all their television, phone and broadband services from just one company is in a much better position to manage bills and track faults.

Before discussing the variety of bundles that are currently on offer from Virgin Media, it is worth noting that a £50 credit is often applied to new customer accounts when services (12 month contract) are ordered online. Furthermore, many bundles actually come at a reduced monthly cost for the first month or several months of the contract, so look out for offers like these.

Virgin Media bundles can incorporate two (double deals), three (triple deals) or all four services from amongst a selection of packages comprising phone, broadband, television and mobile phone.

The double deal bundles include broadband and phone, broadband and digital television, and phone and digital television. Typical bundle savings can be evidenced from the broadband and digital television package, which offers Virgin Broadband Large (up to 10Mb fibre optic connection) and Virgin TV Large (over 100 channels including Sky1, 2 and 3) for £30 per month. The standard cost of these packages when purchased separately is currently £40 per month.

To further illustrate the financial benefits of opting for a Virgin Media bundle, the £30 saving above is greatly enhanced when a third option is taken up. Indeed, the triple deal Virgin Broadband Large, Virgin TV Large and Virgin Phone Medium (Talk Weekends) bundle is only £24 a month when purchased with the requisite Virgin Phone Line priced at an additional £11 per month! So, for £5 more than the corresponding double deal, customers can include an unlimited weekend calls telephone package.

Although Virgin Media bundles are likely to change in cost and detail every so often, the most pressing consumer needs will usually always be met. In this respect, for example, Virgin Media has currently put together a package that will delight most sports fans. The premium sports bundle, billed as "all the sport your sofa can handle", is available at a quite ridiculously low £38.50 per month (excluding the £11 per month phone line rental charge) and includes Sky Sports 1, Sky Sports 2, Sky Sports 3, Sky Sports Xtra, Setanta Sports 1 and 2, Liverpool TV, Celtic TV, Rangers TV and Racing UK. This equates to 138 live televised Barclays Premier League matches as well as major cricket, boxing, rugby and golf events.

Finally, the current 'All Four Services' bundle is priced at £36 a month (excluding the £11 per month line rental). In addition to Virgin Broadband Large, TV Large and Phone Medium, customers can choose between two Virgin Mobile options that offer a SIM only (£12 SIM with 300mins inclusive and 500 texts) or phone and SIM (£12 SIM with 100mins inclusive, 100 texts and a free phone!) deal.

In a nutshell, Virgin bundles are the way to go for ultimate entertainment value...
