Can I get Cable in my area?

For most wanting access to UK digital cable TV the answer is yes. However, currently not all of the UK is accessible to cable TV. This is because cable TV is still a relatively young and under-established sector within the UK television industry.

Due to this a minority percentage of the UK is still unconnected to the digital cable TV network. But major cable TV provider Virgin Media says it is working to reach 100% coverage and it hopes that this will be achieved in the very near future.

In the meantime, many customers wanting a cable digital or just a digital TV service with Virgin Media may be able to receive a limited service by user their existing phone line to receive an analogue service or by taking Virgin Media’s free TV service. Both the phone line and free TV options from Virgin provide a similar service to that offered by Freeview, that is around 40 digital channels.

Customers can check to see if they are in an area already covered by digital cable TV by inputting their postcode into our cable TV coverage checker below.
