What is Sky TV?

Branded under its ‘Sky See’ service, Sky TV has six programme category clusters to choose from. Sky Digital viewers can customise their package by choosing to include any number of mixes in their TV deal. Obviously, the more mixes selected, the more expensive the Sky Digital TV package. And Sky also offers a number of premium channels, including Sky Sports and Sky Movies, to enhance subscribers digital experience even further.

What does Sky TV offer?
Sky TV customers can choice from six programme mixes: Variety, News & Events, Knowledge, Music, Kids and Style & Culture. The cheapest package costs £16 per month, while if you opt for all six it will cost £21 per month. In addition to the basic mix offering Sky TV also has two premium mix packages on offer: Sky Sports and Sky Movies. Adding either or both of these options will increase your monthly subscription price up to a maximum of £45.
In addition to Sky TV’s great channel packages, subscribers can also enjoy Sky’s super interactive options. With Sky TV customers get an interactive programme menu screen that allows quick and easy programme selection. It also offers many additional labour-saving menu options, such as programme reminders and PIN security. And Sky TV also offers interactive services in the form of games, online betting and shopping and even multi-screen viewing option.
What do you need to get Sky TV?
To receive Sky Digital customers will need a satellite dish and a Sky Digital box with viewing card. Sky transmits its TV signal via satellites in orbit to maximise coverage and reduce interference. Subscribers’ satellite dish will receive the broadcasts and convey them to their set top box. Then the Sky box decodes the compressed digital signal and feeds it to their living room TV.
Installation costs £30. For that, a specialist Sky engineer will visit the customer’s property at a convenient time to install the Sky Digital TV system. The engineer will discuss the best place to locate the customer’s satellite dish (this will be partly determined by local signal strength), then he will secure the dish in place on the outside of the property, run a cable from the dish to the set top box, and then connect up the Sky system. |
