Woodstock – Birthplace of Winston Churchill
Not far from Oxford, Woodstock’s roots are as a royal forest in which Henry II reputedly courted ‘fair Rosamund’. A previous royal palace, Woodstock Palace, existed at the site of the current Blenheim Palace since the 12th century, and was home to a menagerie with lions and other exotic animals. Woodstock later grew as a market town and went on to make a living through glove-making and then skilled metalworking.
Today the town’s history and royal links draw many visitors to the town, and it is home to the Oxfordshire museum. In addition to its historic charms, Woodstock is home to a good many restaurants, pubs and other small businesses, which require reliable broadband connections to promote themselves and do business in the 21st century.
Broadband in Woodstock currently offers a reasonable level of digital connectivity, with all areas, from Manor Road and Brook Hill to Flemings Road, Banbury Road and Plane Tree Way, receiving download speeds of around 5Mbps to 15Mbps. While this is some way short of the most modern fibre-optic connections, these speeds should be more than sufficient for most online uses.
