AOL goes aloneTime Warner has announced that it is demerging broadband provider AOL from its operations. One of the UK's leading broadband providers is to become an independent company, it has been revealed. Time Warner has announced that AOL is to be legally and structurally separated from its operations and become an independent, publicly-traded firm. Under the plans, AOL will remain focused on its internet-based brands and services, which currently enjoy European visitor numbers of over 107 million a month. Tim Armstrong, chairman and chief executive officer of AOL, said the move would be "a great opportunity" for the company. He added: "Becoming a standalone public company positions AOL to strengthen its core businesses, deliver new and innovative products and services, and enhance our strategic options." Earlier this year, AOL UK expanded its Living Channel with the launch of its new website, ParentDish. It includes details on parenting as well as advice for both mothers and their children. |
