Authorities in East Anglia meet to discuss broadbandCouncils in East Anglia have met at a conference to discuss efforts to provide high-speed broadband across the area. A conference has been held in East Anglia over the issue of providing faster broadband across the area. The Beccles and Bungay Journal reports that the East of England Next Generation Broadband Summit, which was organised by the East of England Development Agency, took place at Newmarket Racecourse. More than 25 councils were invited to the event, which was calling on authorities to collaborate in order to attract investment from the UK's top telecom companies. Ann Steward, cabinet member for economic development at Norfolk County Council, told the newspaper that coming together could make a real difference. She added: "Regional working will help tremendously because it really puts East Anglia on the map. It is vital for all businesses and individuals that we get better broadband." Recent research by intelligence firm Point Topic suggested that the Tories' policy on super-fast broadband would not benefit the party's supporters in rural areas. |
