The BBC has confirmed plans to show its entire Wimbledon coverage in high definition.
All of the BBC's coverage of this year's Wimbledon tennis tournament will be available in high definition (HD), it has been revealed.

The broadcaster has revealed that the content will be on its BBC HD channel, which is available through a range of digital TV services, for the first time when the competition gets underway on June 22nd.

In addition, the company's Red Button interactive service will offer a choice of up to five live matches, as well as highlights, replays and a chance for viewers to switch between commentary options.

Between two and four matches will also be shown via the BBC iPlayer, which is available through packages including Virgin Media's on-demand TV service.

Confirmation of the details has come after Sky recently announced that it is to launch its own HD news channel in spring next year.
