The availability of fibre optic cable broadband and other internet services is allowing businesses to keep functioning despite adverse weather conditions.
A growing number of firms are using fibre optic cable broadband and other web services to continue operating despite snow across the UK, it has been suggested.

Dave Paulding of VoIP provider Interactive Intelligence has claimed in a column for Fresh Business Thinking that home broadband connections mean many workers can "perform precisely the same tasks" as they would in an office.

He explained that the concept of being a home worker has developed from its previous image of being a lonely role.

"With today's technology that is no longer the case," he explained, as broadband and home phone services mean "even the most demanding communications roles" can still be carried out successfully.

Easynet Connect recently suggested that the faster service available through fibre optic cable broadband and other new technology is key to ensuring firms can take advantage of new IT trends.

The company suggested that a high bandwidth connection is vital when using the likes of cloud computing.
