Broadband speed survey planned for WiltshireFriday, February 5th 2010 Wiltshire County Council is conducting a survey to assess broadband speeds in the region. Wiltshire County Council is planning to find out how fast broadband in the region actually is by conducting a survey of residents.
The local authority is encouraging people to take part in a short online survey, which forms part of a larger study aimed at putting together a comprehensive image of broadband provision in the county, reports This is Wiltshire.
Findings from this study will be used on a national level to ensure that Wiltshire is represented in government projects looking at broadband provision across the country.
John Brady, cabinet member for economic development, planning and housing, told the news provider: "Wiltshire covers a large geographic area and it is very important for the economic success of the county that all residents have access to broadband services. "This is an important piece of research that will be used to secure the digital future of Wiltshire."
Earlier this week, the Conservatives announced plans to launch UK-wide fibre optic cable broadband services if they come to power at the upcoming general election.
