The company, which offers broadband, home phone and digital TV services, has revealed it is supporting the England 2018 organisation in its efforts to ensure the country hosts the sporting event.
According to England 2018, BT is well-placed to provide support and advice on communications services that will be included in its final submission to FIFA in May.
Gavin Patterson, chief executive officer of BT Retail, said access to the likes of fibre optic broadband would be vital to allow people to watch matches during the tournament.
He added: "This decision, along with our current involvement in London 2012, demonstrates BT's deep resources and capabilities to provide some of the most vital services and expertise for the world's greatest sporting events."
