The technology would help businesses in the area, according to SCK Web Works.Access to BT's fibre optic broadband network would be a major boon for firms in Cumbria, a web designer has said.
Director of SCK Web Works Gavin Cunnings told the Westmorland Gazette a faster business broadband connection would benefit his company in a number of ways.
"[Uploading is] quite slow at the moment. We upload a lot and so it would increase our productivity," Mr Cunnings explained.
He went on to state speedier downloads would also assist daily operations, adding: "It would have a big impact on our work if broadband was faster."
However, the newspaper revealed the town of Kendal - where his company is based - has dropped out of the local top 15 in BT's Race to Infinity, a survey to determine where demand for super-fast broadband is highest.
Caxton in Cambridgeshire, Malvern in Worcestershire and Burley-in-Wharfedale in Yorkshire are currently leading the way in the initiative, which will influence BT's future fibre deployment strategy.
