BT called on to bring fibre optic broadband to Kendal

The technology would help businesses in the area, according to SCK Web Works.
Access to BT's fibre optic broadband network would be a major boon for firms in Cumbria, a web designer has said.Director of SCK Web Works Gavin Cunnings told the Westmorland Gazette a faster business broadband connection would benefit his company in a number of ways.
"[Uploading is] quite slow at the moment. We upload a lot and so it would increase our productivity," Mr Cunnings explained.
He went on to state speedier downloads would also assist daily operations, adding: "It would have a big impact on our work if broadband was faster."
However, the newspaper revealed the town of Kendal - where his company is based - has dropped out of the local top 15 in BT's Race to Infinity, a survey to determine where demand for super-fast broadband is highest.
Caxton in Cambridgeshire, Malvern in Worcestershire and Burley-in-Wharfedale in Yorkshire are currently leading the way in the initiative, which will influence BT's future fibre deployment strategy.
