
Fibre optic broadband services will soon be available in Walsall thanks to investment from BT.
Bundle provider BT has revealed that households in Walsall will soon have access to fibre optic cable broadband services.The company, which also offers home phone and digital TV deals, has confirmed that more than 24,000 homes and businesses will have access to the technology once network upgrades are completed in the next few weeks.
Offering download speeds of up to 40Mbps, the networks will allow families to take advantage of a range of bandwidth-hungry applications – from high definition TV to online gaming – at the same time.
John Dovey, the BT's regional director for the West Midlands, said: "This is an exciting development in the region's fast-moving broadband story.
"Households and businesses switching to super-fast broadband will soon be experiencing the internet as they have never experienced it before."
At the end of last week, BT confirmed that fibre optic broadband services will also soon be available in Low Moor, Yorkshire.
