BT launches Home Hub 3 with "smart wireless" tech

The facility is designed to give users the best possible Wi-Fi connection.
BT has officially launched its new Home Hub 3, which it claimed is capable of tracking down the best wireless broadband connection in a given area.

The telecoms giant said the device, which measures 18.5cm x 11cm, comes with "smart wireless" technology that always searches for the strongest Wi-Fi channel.

Speaking to TechRadar, general manager of consumer broadband at BT Mayuresh Thavapalan explained the company believes this facility is "unique" to BT's routers at present.

It scans the radio spectrum for interference, he stated, in a bid to avoid the issue of other products interfering with the signal.

"There's a profusion of wireless devices and some of these are quite unfriendly in what they do to wireless networks," Mr Thavapalan remarked.

"The [Home Hub 3] allows customers to have ... less wireless problems."

According to BT, its new router also has a 130Mbps data range and features a power saver mode that automatically turns it off when not in use.
