BT seeks end to mis-sellingMonday, September 28th 2009 A new campaign designed to encourage Ofcom to bring an end to the issue of mis-selling in the UK has been launched by BT. Broadband provider BT has announced it is joining forces with the Trading Standards Institute to tackle the issue of mis-selling.
Through its new collaboration, the company is looking to stop one in 40 households falling victim to scams which affect their telecommunications deals every year.
It is hoped the move will bring an end to issues such as "slamming", which sees broadband and home phone customers switched to a company without their knowledge.
John Petter, managing director of BT's consumer division, said the company has put forward a new process which could bring "an end to mis-selling misery for good".
He added: "I can't think of any other industry where this would be considered acceptable. It really is time that this was stamped out."
BT's Wholesale division recently confirmed plans to expand the availability of its next generation copper network in the UK. |
