BT has been urged to bring high-speed broadband to the Buckingham Industrial Park.

BT has been urged to bring super-fast broadband to the Buckingham Industrial Park.

The Bicester Advertiser & Review reports that Swan Business Park has high-speed broadband, but the nearby industrial estate is struggling with poor ADSL connections.

A recent study by Regeneris Consulting found BT's broadband investment in Buckinghamshire boosted the county's economy by £886 million, while supporting the jobs of at least 1,200 people.

However, Mike Moyse, managing director of Technical Support Department, told the newspaper he had been informed by an engineer that BT had deliberately decided not to bring super-fast broadband to the industrial park.

A spokesperson for BT responded that it understands Mr Moyse's frustration.

"We are constantly reviewing our plans and looking for solutions in more complex areas," the representative added.

They pointed out that the Buckingham exchange has had its copper network improved, enabling broadband users to achieve speeds of as much as 20Mbps.

BT has spent £2.5 billion establishing super-fast broadband networks throughout the UK and has reached more than 1.7 million businesses and homes in the south-east, with this figure expected to reach over 2.6 million by next spring.
