BT's efforts to fix Knutsford broadband outage halted by parked car

A parked car has stood in the way of BT's attempts to fix a broadband and home phone outage in Knutsford.
Two damaged cables have left several homes and businesses in the Cheshire town without internet and landline services over the past week.
Although the majority of repairs were completed on Monday (October 1st 2012), BT engineers still had a number of small residual faults to correct.
Speaking to knutsford.com, the telecoms giant revealed its engineers were unable to fix a damaged cable in the Mobberley Road and Moordale Road area as the underground joint box was obscured by the parked car.
"We carded the car and properties in the immediate vicinity, in an effort to get the owner to move the car, but the same car remained in situ for several days preventing access. It has now moved," a BT spokeswoman explained.
No fixed completion date has been set, but the company expects to finish the repair work by the weekend.
This is not the first outage to hit the Cheshire area, with nearby Neston suffering a similar problem in February 2011 after thieves stole two sections of underground cable.
