
Project Canvas, the digital TV scheme backed by broadband providers including TalkTalk, has outlined its content protection strategy.
A new digital TV venture established by partners including TalkTalk and BT has taken another step forward in its development.Project Canvas has published details of its content protection strategy, which will be used to ensure that consumers have the chance to enjoy a wide range of content through the platform.
It has been confirmed that Canvas will support the Marlin digital rights management solution, which has been developed by companies including Panasonic and Samsung.
Anthony Rose, chief technology officer of Project Canvas, said Marlin will give content providers the best option.
He added: "Our content protection requirements have to cater for the widest possible number of content providers, including giving reassurance to those looking to support pay-per-view and subscription access to film."
TalkTalk recently suggested to the Daily Telegraph that it could offer access to Canvas for free through its range of home phone and broadband bundles.
Max Alexander, senior director of TV at the company, proposed the move during a recent industry event.
