Fibre optic broadband investment 'a good thing'
Any efforts to invest in fibre optic broadband are "a good thing", according to an expert.
An expert has described any investment in fibre optic broadband made by authorities as a "good thing".

Edd Dawson, editor of Broadband.co.uk, made the comments after it was revealed that such services are to be added to a business park in York and claimed its key benefit was its large capacity in relation to traditional copper lines.

However, he added that while its rollout is important, more should be done to bring together a variety of local projects under one national infrastructure.

He explained: "Even in York itself, it is very much going to depend on whether the fibre goes past your property or not.

"So while it is great, and great for the people doing this, I think that you should not draw the focus away from the need for a national policy."
