Gloucestershire's digital TV switchover moves closerThursday, December 31st 2009 Homeowners in Gloucestershire have been urged to prepare for the digital TV switchover in their region. People in Gloucestershire should consider ensuring they are prepared for the switch to digital TV, it has been suggested.
The Forester reports that while the official switchover date for the area is April and June 2011, a number of homeowners are still yet to purchase set-top boxes or services from the likes of BT Vision in order to be ready.
David Farwig, Digital UK's assistant manager for the south-west, said those served by the Ridge Hill transmitter would be affected by the changes.
"Most people have already made the switch to digital TV but with just months to go, we're urging anyone still watching analogue to prepare," he told the newspaper.
Earlier this month, it was revealed that the BBC Trust has given its backing to the proposed new digital TV service Project Canvas.
The system, which is supported by broadband providers like BT and TalkTalk, is set to be based on an internet-enabled set-top box.
