Help wanted for north-west digital TV switchover

Community Service Volunteers wants people to help ensure the elderly do not miss out on the digital TV switchover.
A charity in the north-west of England is calling on people to volunteer to help with the digital TV switchover.

Community Service Volunteers (CSV) wants people to help spread the message about digital TV to ensure nobody is left in the dark, with the switchover due in less than 100 days, reports Community Newswire.

The charity is working with BBC North West to spread information about the switchover with its new Switchover Help Scheme, which is targeting people over 75 or on benefits.

Samantha Barlow, community outreach manager for CSV, said even a few hours helping can "make a big difference" to ensure older people don't miss out due to the digital TV switchover.

"We've found many people needed help using the new digital technology, and we are appealing for volunteers in Manchester, Merseyside, Lancashire and Cheshire to help distribute information leaflets, give talks at community centres or just help a neighbour in need," she added.

Digital UK recently confirmed the completion of the final stages of the switchover in the Isles of Scilly and west Cornwall.
