Mobile broadband 'to be dominant by 2011'
New research has suggested that mobile broadband connections will be more common than fixed line alternatives by 2011.
More people will have access to mobile broadband rather than fixed line by 2011, according to new figures.

The new Taking Internet Mobile: UK report from research body mobileSQUARED has revealed that the number of mobile broadband connections in use within the next two years will be 42.7 million.

In contrast, just 42.5 million people will have fixed line broadband connections by the same time.

Nick Lane, chief analyst of the organisation, said mobile will act as "the primary access point" for communications.

He added: "Mobile is always-on, and the average user carries their device for an average of 16 hours a day. So if a company or brand is not already considering how to use mobile, then they need to because their customers are."

Ciaron Dunne, analyst at Broadband Genie, recently claimed that internet service providers are set to launch improved offers to promote their mobile packages in the coming months.
