MS3 halfway through Hull fibre broadband rollout

MS3 Communications has announced a milestone in its east Yorkshire fibre optic broadband rollout, with half of the initial phase one network build now completed.
Welch Civils, the contractor in charge of the dig, has undertaken work in several parts of Hull, including Carr Lane, North Road and Whitefriargate.
Several businesses covered by the first phase of the deployment have signed up for the super-fast broadband service, with JS Power named as one of the first firms to subscribe.
Jonathan Searby, JS Power's managing director, said the company is looking forward to its existing ADSL connection being upgraded to a fibre optic-based service.
"At times our current connection has been unusable and we simply needed something better," he explained.
Mr Searby added that the decision to switch from the company's previous provider was made easier by MS3's "very competitive" pricing.
The network is set to go live in October, while work on the second phase of the network build is expected to begin during the final quarter of 2012.
Hull's incumbent telecoms provider KC is also carrying out network upgrades, with the company aiming to roll out fibre optic broadband to 15,000 properties by the end of the year.
