Nokia enters broadband laptop market
A leading electronics firm best known for its mobile phones is to launch its first laptop, it has been announced.
Mobile phone manufacturer Nokia has announced plans to take its first steps into the broadband laptop market.

The company has unveiled its new Nokia Booklet 3G, which includes a 10-inch high-definition ready display, along with 12 hours of battery life and connectivity options including 3G/HSPA and Wi-Fi.

Further details, including which broadband provider will be offering the system in the UK, are expected to be announced in September.
Kai Oistamo, Nokia's executive vice-president for devices, said the Booklet 3G is "a natural evolution".

"Nokia has a long and rich heritage in mobility and with the outstanding battery life, premium design and all day, always on connectivity, we will create something quite compelling," he added.

Earlier this year, Virgin Media became the first broadband provider to launch its own branded laptop, named the Freedom netbook.
