North-west to 'migrate to digital TV'Wednesday, October 28th 2009 Around seven million people in the north-west of England are set to be relying on digital TV services within the next week. The organisation behind the UK's digital TV switchover has revealed that seven million people in the north-west of England are to lose analogue signals within the next week. Digital UK has announced that from November 4th, the Granada TV region which is home to around 7.2 million viewers - will begin to lose signals for its analogue channels such as BBC2. A month later, all channels will have been switched off, which in turn will make Freeview coverage available to some residents in the process. David Scott, chief executive of Digital UK, said: "Never before in this country has a change in television affected so many people in one night as the digital switchover in the north-west. "We believe the region is well prepared, but some people will need a bit of extra help which we're determined to provide." At the end of last month, homeowners were urged to take part in a national retune initiative organised by Freeview.
