O2 plans to expand mobile broadband networkFriday, November 20th 2009 Broadband provider O2 has announced plans to speed up the expansion of its mobile network across the UK. Leading broadband provider O2 has confirmed plans to accelerate the expansion of its mobile network. The company has revealed it intends to build 1,500 new network sites across the UK in 2010, as part of investment plans which will total hundreds of millions. Around 200 sites will be launched in London alone, while 40 of those will be supporting its mobile broadband services in the capital before the end of this year. Derek McManus, chief technology officer for O2 in the UK, said: "Anticipating growth in demand for mobile services, we have quarter-on-quarter increased investment in our voice and data networks." He added that the improvements would "ensure we have significant headroom for the future and retain our focus on being number one for customer satisfaction". Earlier this week, O2 revealed that both the Asus Eee PC 1005H and the Samsung R519 are now available as part of its broadband laptop deals. |
