120 Tragus restaurants to gain O2 Wifi access
Cafe Rouge, Bella Italia and Strada restaurants are set to gain access to O2 Wifi.

O2 has sealed a deal with Tragus to install wireless broadband at more than 120 restaurants across the country.

The agreement will see O2 Wifi rolled out to branches of Cafe Rouge and selected Bella Italia and Strada establishments, with the service set to be offered free to all customers, regardless of which mobile network they use.

This is the latest contract secured by O2 Wifi since its launch last January, coming shortly after it reached a deal to offer wireless internet access to shoppers in 11 House of Fraser department stores at no cost.

However, the Tragus contract is the first it has signed with a restaurant chain.

Managing director of O2 Wifi Gavin Franks said the deal means the network operator can now offer Tragus customers free broadband connectivity, as well as exclusive discounts through its Priority Moments scheme.

"As O2 Wifi's footprint continues to grow, we hope that more people and businesses start to realise the potential of genuinely free and fast Wi-Fi," he commented.

Derek Risk, group IT director at Tragus, added that O2's "mobile expertise" will allow the restaurant chain to gain greater understanding of its customers' needs.
