Orange enjoys mobile broadband subscriber boostFriday, October 30th 2009 Broadband provider Orange has revealed that it recorded a 64 per cent rise in mobile internet subscriptions during the third quarter of 2009. Orange has announced that it enjoyed a major increase in mobile broadband subscriptions across the third quarter of this year. The broadband provider revealed that the number of people connected to the web via the mobile network grew by 64 per cent year-on-year, to reach a total of around 4.7 million customers. However, the company also experienced a 12.2 per cent drop in fixed line broadband customers over the period analysed. In addition, overall revenues were found to be down 7.1 per cent on a constant currency basis. Despite the figures, Orange will be hoping for a brighter future after revealing it is now offering speeds of up to 20Mbps as standard for all customers in its home broadband network areas. The company is supporting the move by introducing four new prices plans, which are available from £6.50 a month, as well as a major marketing push for the service in the run-up to the festive period.
