Orange 'no longer considering Kangaroo'
A leading mobile broadband provider is no longer looking to buy catch-up TV service Kangaroo.
Orange has confirmed that it is no longer planning to make a bid for a web-based catch-up TV service.

The mobile broadband provider's parent company France Telecom has issued a statement claiming that it not planning to acquire Kangaroo, which is an online TV service created in a collaboration between the BBC, Channel 4 and ITV.

According to the Daily Telegraph, the launch of the system was blocked by the Competition Commission earlier this year, but Orange was looking at using it to improve its own broadband TV offering across Europe.

However, France Telecom claimed in a statement: "We can confirm that we are not pursuing our interest in the catch-up TV service Kangaroo.

"After in-depth due diligence, we concluded that it was unlikely that an outcome which benefited France Telecom's Orange operations would be met."

Orange recently dominated the nominations for the upcoming UK Internet Industry Awards for 2009.

The company got four nods on the shortlist for the UK Internet Service Providers Association event.
