Broadband provider Plusnet has warned customers that some Christmas lights can have an impact on internet connections.
Broadband provider Plusnet has called on its customers to keep Christmas tree lights and wiring away from telephone cables over the coming month.According to the company, there is much evidence that certain lights can cause some connection faults on broadband services, as they can generate RF interference that has a particular impact on ADSL internet.
Broadband users have been urged to switch lights off if they struggle to connect to the internet, although there is also another potential way of detecting the problem.
"Some people have suggested that one way of detecting interference is to tune an analogue radio to Medium Wave 612 through to 693, which should buzz when you wave the radio near problematical tree lights," Plusnet's Peter Jackson explained on the firm's blog.
Plusnet's advice has come after the firm revealed that it is now offering new phone line installations at a special low price of £49.99 until the end of January 2010.
