Scottish households 'targeted by digital TV captions'Monday, February 8th 2010 On-screen captions are set to be used to remind households in Scotland to prepare for the digital TV switchover. Households across the north-east of Scotland are to be urged to prepare for the upcoming digital TV switchover by a new campaign.
Digital UK, the company responsible for the changes, has revealed it is to use on-screen captions to remind analogue viewers that they will need to prepare for the switchover, which will begin in September, reports the Press and Journal.
Viewers are set to be advised to install set-top boxes, which may be based on services from Freeview, Virgin Media, BT or Sky, before the changes commence.
A spokesman for Digital UK told the newspaper: "We know that captions are a really effective way to tell viewers their TV will definitely be affected by switchover."
He added: "Viewers in Aberdeenshire who see the messages know they have to get ready."
It was recently reported that charity Ricability is set to offer help to those preparing for the digital switchover in Swindon.
The organisation has been commissioned by the government to provide advice, according to the Swindon Advertiser. |
