Sky and Monterosa launch Ryder Cup Challenge game

Sky and Monterosa Productions have teamed up to develop a companion game to complement the satellite broadcaster's coverage of the Ryder Cup.
With Europe and the US facing off in the golf tournament between now and Sunday (September 30th 2012), the partners have launched Ryder Cup Challenge, which is available via the Zeebox mobile and tablet app, and also on the Sky Sports website.
According to Broadcast, the game sees players answer trivia questions to progress around an 18-hole course, or accurately predict what will happen during the Ryder Cup itself.
For instance, gamers will be asked to predict whether a tee shot will hit the fairway, with only those who correctly guess the answer able to progress and play their own 'virtual shot'.
Players will be able to keep track of their progress and measure their performance against other competitors using a leaderboard hosted on Facebook.
Tom McDonnell, commercial director at Monterosa, said: "Like casual and social gaming before, we're creating a new type of very light TV play-along game that audiences can dip in and out of when they like, while they're watching TV."
