Sky 'could offer digital TV channels via Freeview'
Digital TV provider Sky may soon offer its channels via the Freeview platform, according to reports.
Sky is set to make its digital TV channels available to households with Freeview in the near future, it has been suggested.

The Sunday Times reports that the company, which also offers broadband and home phone services, could be given the go-ahead to sell its offerings to non-subscribers under new plans from Ofcom.

It is believed the regulator will make such a move possible by backing Picnic, a service proposed by Sky three years ago which would see bundles offered via next-generation set-top boxes.

Mike Darcey, chief operating officer at Sky, suggested to the newspaper that the firm was considering all of its options.

"If ever we got to a point where a clear outcome was presented, I guess we would have another look at it," he added.

At the end of last week, Sky confirmed plans to launch its 3D digital TV channel at the start of next month.

The Premier League clash between Chelsea and Manchester United will be used to launch the platform on April 3rd.
