The news channel now offers apps for iPhone, iPad, Android and Windows Phone.

Sky has announced the launch of a free Windows Phone application for Sky News.

The download, developed in partnership with Windows Phone creator Microsoft, combines rich content from the digital TV channel - including breaking news with video and text - with the design language of the smartphone operating system.

Among the app's other features are radio and video bulletins, live TV footage and the ability to share articles via Facebook and Twitter.

James Weeks, executive producer of Sky News Interactive, said the program is designed to merge the "best bits" of its brand with the look and feel of Windows Phone.

"We are delighted with the development of this product and believe it further demonstrates Sky News's commitment to provide content to ever-growing news platforms," he added.

Sky News mobile applications, which are available for iPhone, iPad and Android devices, have been downloaded by more than four million people.

The Sky News for iPad app was released in March and is free for Sky subscribers, although non-customers must pay a monthly subscription fee to use the service.
