Sky prepares live theatre shows
Live theatre performances are to be shown on Sky's Arts channel later this year, the broadcaster has confirmed.
Subscribers to Sky's digital TV services will be able to watch live theatre performances from the start of July, it has been revealed.

The company has revealed that Sky Arts is to show six theatrical world premieres during the month, with behind-the-scenes action from the shows also set to be broadcast.

Rehearsals for Sky Arts Theatre Live!, which will be hosted by Sandi Toksvig, are to begin at the Orange Tree Theatre in Richmond from next month.

Discussing the show, the presenter said it represented an effort to bring "genuine 'reality' television" back to a TV audience.

"Vibrant, immediate, warts and all. I started my career in live television. It has an energy that cannot be found elsewhere and I am delighted to be going back," she added.

Sky also recently confirmed that second world war drama The Pacific, which has been made by the same production team as Band of Brothers, will be shown on its channels next year.
