Split-screen functionality added to Sky Sports iPad app
An update to the Sky Sports app for iPad has been rolled out ahead of the British Grand Prix.

Sky Sports has updated its iPad app with the addition of split-screen technology ahead of this weekend's British Grand Prix.

The enhanced version of the app will allow Formula One (F1) fans to simultaneously watch the live action from two different camera angles.

Other upgrades include the integration of the Sky electronic programme guide, giving users the chance to scan through the next three shows on each Sky Sports channel and set reminders.

Additionally, the app now features support for Remote Record functionality, allowing iPad owners to store programmes on their Sky+ set-top box while they are out and about.

David Gibbs, director of digital media for Sky Sports, said: "The update to the F1 companion experience will allow customers to get even more out of our F1 coverage through innovative split-screen technology."

He added that a split-screen feature will be added to the companion app experience for other sports, including football and golf, later this year.

Earlier this year, the satellite broadcaster revealed eight per cent of respondents to its survey received tablets such as the iPad for Christmas, while 16 per cent intend to purchase one before the end of 2012.
