Star Trek: The Next Generation HD coming to Syfy UK in November
Star Trek: The Next Generation will be aired in HD in the UK for the first time from November 5th.

Syfy is set to become the first UK channel to screen Star Trek: The Next Generation (TNG) in high definition (HD).

The broadcaster will air episodes of the cult sci-fi show that have been remastered from the original film elements to native HD standards.

Star Trek fans can look forward to watching TNG in high definition from November 5th 2012, with the first episode set to hit the air at 19:00 GMT.

Adam Collings, channel director of Syfy UK, said the station's viewers love the Star Trek franchise. As well as TNG, the channel has acquired the rights to Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Star Trek: Voyager.

"In the year that TNG celebrates its 25th anniversary, we are thrilled to be the first channel to bring the series to UK fans in stunning high definition," Mr Collings commented.

Available on the Sky, Virgin Media and TalkTalk pay TV platforms, Syfy UK reaches more than three million people every week, with its line-up featuring big-name movies, British TV premieres and special events.

The channel is part of the Universal Networks International portfolio, which delivers content to viewers across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Latin America and Asia Pacific.
