TalkTalk 'is the UK's most complained about major telecoms firm'
Ofcom has revealed TalkTalk was the most complained about major telecoms firm between July and September.

TalkTalk has again topped Ofcom's list of the UK's most complained about major broadband and home phone providers.

Between July and September, the regulator received 0.77 complaints per 1,000 customers about TalkTalk's landline packages, with these issues largely related to billing and customer service problems.

BT and Sky were named in second and third places with 0.29 and 0.28 issues per 1,000 subscribers respectively, while Virgin Media came fourth with a score of 0.19.

In the fixed broadband market, TalkTalk again took the number one spot after attracting 0.55 complaints per 1,000 customers during the three-month period. Line faults and other service issues were the most common gripes.

BT came second with 0.5, followed by Orange, while Sky and Virgin Media finished level on 0.19 customer issues for every 1,000 subscribers.

TalkTalk has endured a tough 12 months, with the telecoms firm slapped with a £3 million fine by Ofcom in August after incorrectly billing thousands of consumers for services they no longer received.

More than 1,000 people complained about the issue to the regulator, forcing it to open an investigation into the matter in July 2010.
