TalkTalk boosts customer numbers

Tuesday, January 19th 2010 by Editorial
Bundle provider TalkTalk has confirmed that it added 36,000 new subscribers to its customer base during the third quarter of the financial year.
Broadband provider TalkTalk welcomed over 30,000 new subscribers to its internet services during the third quarter of the financial year, a new trading update has revealed.

The statement from parent company Carphone Warehouse revealed that the firm, which offers both home phone and broadband bundles, took on 36,000 new customers over the period.

Over four million people are now signed up to TalkTalk, which also saw its revenues rise by 29 per cent to £446 million during the quarter.

Charles Dunstone, chief executive officer of the company, said: "TalkTalk Group's brand profile, value for money proposition, and customer service has continued to generate real momentum in the market."

He added that the company's takeover of Tiscali is also "well on track to create a highly efficient platform for providing our customers with excellent value and service".

The release of the trading update has come after Mr Dunstone claimed in the company blog that the government's new digital economy bill could create some kind of "Orwellian nightmare" for broadband customers.
