TalkTalk: Children spend over 2 hours a day onlineFriday, November 20th 2009 Broadband provider TalkTalk has announced that children now spend an average of 130 minutes per day online. Children spend over two hours a day browsing the internet, according to new research from broadband provider TalkTalk. The study revealed that the average child aged between five and 15 spends 130 minutes online daily, while one in four also claim their parents have no idea what they are up to while on the web. Over half have admitted they delete their browser history to ensure their guardians have no idea of their habits, while 62 per cent have lied to ensure people do not get wind of what they are doing.. Commenting on the study, professor and child psychology Tanya Byron said it highlighted "the predicament facing Britain's parents". She added: "We know the internet is increasingly important in our children's lives, but many parents are still deeply ignorant about what goes on online." Earlier this week, a study by TalkTalk suggested that email use could die out within the next decade.
