TalkTalk considers extending free broadband schemeBundle provider TalkTalk has suggested it may extend the free broadband and home phone deal it currently offers to those in the armed forces. Public sector workers could soon benefit from free broadband and home phone services from TalkTalk, it has been suggested.
In an official blog posting, Tristia Clarke, commercial director of the broadband provider, revealed that the company is thinking about extending the deal it currently offers to armed forces and their families.
She explained that with a two-year pay freeze expected to impact on public sector workers, including those earning less than £21,000 a year, such people may have to rethink what they spend their disposable income on.
TalkTalk remains focused on providing low-cost broadband, she outlined, while also suggesting that the firm will continue to try and offer people the best possible value.
"That commitment remains and with everyone facing a more constrained financial future it has never been more important," she added.
TalkTalk originally introduced its free home phone and broadband deal for those in the armed forces at the end of last month. |
Broadband provider Be has announced plans to launch a new reward scheme for customers who recommend its service to their friends and family. Consumers are throwing away more than £2 million per day on broadband packages that do not suit their needs, according to O2. Consumers who sign up to TalkTalk's Essentials package before the end of September 2010 will get their first six months of broadband for free. | Former communications minister Lord Carter has criticised the government's decision to delay the universal broadband target to 2015. Traditional broadband connections will not be replaced by mobile internet in the short term, it has been claimed. TVs are still the favoured method of watching programmes, Broadband TV News has claimed. |
