TalkTalk unveils child-friendly Magic DesktopTuesday, October 27th 2009 A new child-friendly service called Magic Desktop has been launched by broadband provider TalkTalk. Broadband and home phone provider TalkTalk has launched its new Magic Desktop service, which is designed to make it safer for children to use the internet. The program offers youngsters access to a range of child-friendly applications, including a web browser which parents can use to ensure kids do not come across any inappropriate content while online. Little ones can also complete a range of learning exercises and earn points that can be used to access games, while parents can top them up with more rewards for doing homework or other chores. Sylvain Thevenot of TalkTalk Group suggested the company was "very pleased" to offer such a program for free to its subscribers. "Magic Desktop gives children a great introduction to computers and the internet and parents can have peace of mind that they can give their child the freedom to explore but can minimise risks and help children behave safer online," he added. TalkTalk's recent acquisition of Tiscali means it is now the UK's biggest residential broadband provider. |
