ToowayDirect unveils faster broadband packages
New, faster satellite broadband packages have been unveiled by ToowayDirect.

ToowayDirect has announced a speed boost for its range of high-speed satellite broadband packages.

From Sunday (July 1st 2012), the provider's top-tier package - Tooway 18 Max - offers customers downstream speeds of 18Mbps, with upstream rates of 6Mbps.

As well as boosting its existing products, Tooway has introduced a new entry-level service called Tooway 2, which offers download and upload speeds of 2Mbps and 1Mbps respectively.

Tooway 6, which was previously the company's bottom-tier package, has been replaced with a new service called Tooway 8 that delivers 8Mbps downloads and 2Mbps upstream speeds, with a standard monthly data allowance of 8GB.

The changes have no effect on the Ka Sat Tooway dish and modem, meaning existing customers on older tariffs will be able to migrate to the new deals at no cost.

Andrew Walwyn, managing director of ToowayDirect, said: "We're obviously very excited about the product changes. Tooway is a great product to be involved with in the first place, but the new parameters catapult the proposition into a different league."

Tooway has previously argued that satellite broadband can often be a more commercially viable option than fixed-line connections, despite being seen by many as a "mop-up service".
