An expert has claimed that the distinction between TV and PC services is becoming "increasingly blurred".
The services offered by TV and PCs are beginning to merge, it has been claimed.

Recent research by Microsoft found that internet consumption is set to overtake TV viewing by next year, as the increasingly quality of broadband connections has improved the services offered through the web.

Brian Turner, executive editor of Techwatch.co.uk, backed the study and claimed that the internet is beginning to "play a much more central role in the home as a media platform".

He added: "The services once exclusive to TV broadcasting are fast becoming an integral part of internet use, not least via catch up services [such as] iPlayer, streaming TV and video hosting.

"The reality is that the home PC is becoming a fully fledged media centre in its own right."

Research by comScore recently found that the total UK online video viewing audience has grown by around ten per cent in the past 12 months.
