Virgin Media has announced it will improve its broadband network capacity in Brighton and Hove over the coming months after receiving a spate of speed complaints from subscribers.
Speaking to the Argus, a spokesman from the cable company explained the upgrades will ensure that all Virgin Media broadband users in the south coast city are able to access a fair share of the available bandwidth.
According to the insider, complaints about slow broadband speeds in Brighton and Hove - particularly at peak times - are down to a small number of "incredibly heavy users", who are hampering the service received by other local subscribers.
"To help address this, we're upgrading our network in Brighton," he said. "Improvements are being rolled out at the moment and customers will start to see the benefits gradually over the coming weeks."
While some Brighton and Hove customers are struggling with their connections, Virgin Media announced last November that its ultra-fast 100Mbps fibre optic broadband service has been rolled out to a third of the UK.
Next month, the company will start a programme of upgrades that will double the top speeds available to more than four million of its subscribers.
