Virgin Media awards gold set-top box to millionth TiVo customer

Virgin Media has awarded a limited-edition gold TiVo set-top box to the one millionth household to sign up for the next-generation entertainment service.
The cable company enlisted former EastEnders actor and Spandau Ballet bassist Martin Kemp to present the one-off box to the customers, Allan and Christine Ward from Bramcote.
In reaching the milestone subscriber figure, TiVo has cemented its position as the UK's fastest growing pay TV service.
As well as benefiting from the cable TV product, the subscribers were gifted a high-definition 3D TV and treated to a red-carpet experience, with Kemp arriving in a limo rather than the standard Virgin Media engineer's van.
Kemp, who famously played the villain Steve Owen in the BBC One soap, said: "Being here to surprise the Wards was a great way to brighten up the start to the week and I hope they are delighted with their new TiVo service - it was a pleasure to meet [them] both!"
During the second quarter of 2012, Virgin Media saw its TiVo customer base increase by 261,700 to reach 938,800 households, representing 25 per cent of the company's overall pay TV subscribers.
