Virgin Media doubles broadband speeds in Slough

Residents in Slough can now access one of the UK's fastest broadband services after Virgin Media doubled its downstream speeds in the area.
According to the Slough Observer, the town is one of the first in south England to benefit from the cable company's current upgrade programme, in which more than four million households will see their line speeds double at no extra cost.
Jon James, executive director of broadband at Virgin Media, said the internet service provider has driven the UK's broadband development and is "delighted" to offer a further boost to customers in Slough.
"Following our 'double speeds' programme, all of our customers will be super-fast as standard and ready to access a new breed of high-bandwidth entertainment services," he added.
The announcement comes in the same week Virgin Media launched its new headline broadband speed of 120Mbps, with this capability currently being rolled out to customers on the company's existing 100Mbps service.
In addition, Virgin Media revealed it has completed 40 per cent of its speed upgrades, which will be extended to the almost 13 million homes covered by the company's network over the coming year.
