Two Lancashire men who were imprisoned for selling fraudulent Virgin Media set-top boxes have been ordered to repay the proceeds of their crime or spend longer in jail.
Imran Khansia, 30, and Rafiq Dudhwala, 27, both from Blackburn, were told they must pay back £200,000 each from cash they earned illegally by selling modified cable TV viewing equipment, reports the Lancashire Telegraph.
Should the pair fail to pay up within six months, they both stand to spend an extra 30 months in prison.
Mr Dudhwala and Mr Khansia were part of a gang of four men imprisoned for a total of just under 14 years for selling the illegitimate set-top boxes, which allowed customers to pick up pay TV channels without requiring a monthly subscription.
John White, head of group security at Virgin Media, said: "Purchasing unlawful equipment such as this only serves to fund organised crime and we will continue to investigate and prosecute individuals and groups connected with this type of fraud."
In July, three Essex men - Munaf Ahmed Zinga, Mukandun Pillai and Salim Patel - were sentenced to a total of 15 years in prison for a similar crime.
